MIAMI – Three South Florida names are only recognized locally, for now. Logan Real, Tim Yehezkely and Lauren Reskin all call South Florida home and, according to Ocean Drive Magazine, they’re almost famous.
“I think it’s great because any press that I get is also press for anything else that’s going on in the music scene,” Reskin said.
Reskin, also known as Lolo, is 25 years old. She’s a music promoter, DJ, band manager and she owns a local record store called Sweat Records.
“I’m getting featured in this article so hopefully people will check out Sweat Records, they’ll come to Circa Saturdays, go see a local band and buy a new CD,” she said. “You know, help support the local scene and that, in turn, will help us.”
Yehezkely, a girl with a guy’s name, has a voice to match her beauty. She’s also 25. She’s a chemistry student, but her passion is music.
“In college, I was trying to figure out what I loved doing and I didn?t know, so I was just trying everything,” she said. “I found out that I really loved writing songs.”
Yehezkely sings for a local band called the Postmarks. She said she admits that all the attention at a recent photo shoot was a bit overwhelming.
“It was fun,” she said. “It was a different experience. It was kind of weird being in front of the camera.”
The Postmarks’ first CD is already in stores and they can be found on MySpace.com.
Yehezkely said being a household name would be great, but for her, it’s not about the glitz and glamour.
Real is a fashion designer dedicated to becoming a brand name. He designs sneakers, purses, belts and suitcases. Some famous faces are already sporting his brand.
“I’ve designed for a couple special people, a member of the Saudi royal family,” Real said. “I’ve done Omarion, MC Hammer. Locally I’ve done DJ Irie.”
Real started designing two years ago in college. He said now, his dream is coming to life.
Each are on their way to the top in their own way, according to Ocean Drive Magazine. They all said it’s not easy.
“You just have to do what you love,” Yehezkely said. “Do it because you want to, not because you expect anything to come of it.”
